Power weekend

Running, surfing or ski touring – are my favorite sports. Biking? No! Until last weekend I hated mountain biking or in my case I thought that I would hate it. I was never an avid biker, even riding my city bike to work or college is annoying me.  “I would rather run a few kilometers uphill than mountain bike” – that was me last week!

“Omg, it was so much fun, let’s bike this trail again tomorrow” – me on Saturday. I finally did it. I went mountain biking and I liked it. One of my best friends has tried to convince me for a mountain bike tour for more than two years. I am soooooo happy that I conquered my weaker self on a 4 kilometers ride uphill with 1050m of elevation gain. I was cycling in the Dolomites, Tyrol, surrounded by an amazing landscape and scenery.

Unfortunately I was not able to be on the bike again on Sunday. Although I wanted to have a bike repetition, my sore butt made it impossible. It hurt so much that I enjoyed the nice weather relaxing by the lake instead.

Work hard, play hard

Casual Chic – from the office to after work drinks

Every morning I ask myself the same question: What should I wear today?

An outfit not only work- and collage-appropriate but also cool enough to pull it through all the way into the after work drink. Sometimes I feel that thinking about what to wear feels like a job itself.

Suits, costumes or pencil skirts? No, I am not that kind of girl. There are more fashion trends to co-opt for the office.

I combine my favorite fashion pieces and make them look trendy, effortless and chic.

Just paired a plain black shirt with some jeans, added some glamorous accessories, throw in some spring sandals and voila: a casual chic outfit to go from work to dinner to after drinks in a flash.

New hair don't care

Guess what? I did it! I colored my hair for the very first time in my life!

Once in a while I get excited about a new look. First I wanted cut my hair and take on a long bob cut. One of my best friends convinced me to try something else though.

Yesterday I went to the hairdresser and got hair paintings also called "balayage". It's supposed to be the "new" ombre. I wanted to brighten up my look but still stay natural.

The hairdresser told me that, balayage creates the most natural-looking results because she paints on the highlights by hand, and can scatter them throughout my hair in a more truly “sunkissed” and haphazard pattern.

And I love the result - check out my new sunkissed bright hair!

Perfect day

Rain, cold temperatures and a day off call for a spa day.

Between master thesis, work schedules and classes, I found plenty of good reasons to pamper myself with some wellness and recoup from daily stress.

Relaxing, catching up on gossip, latest fashion news and enjoying a relaxing day with my boyfriend – it was a perfect day.

Over time I have collected my very own spa check list:
  • A comfortable but cute outfit: sweat pants, a top and a leather jacket (after a spa day I am lazy and don’t want to dress very chic
  • Favorite bikini (it’s not summer yet and the bikini body neither – so I wear one of my best bikinis to feel comfortable)
  • bathrobe and flip flops (if not included in spa package)
  • Innocent smoothie or a homemade smoothie
  • Some fruits (this time I brought an apple, grapes and strawberries)
  • Favorite readings (Vogue, Instyle and Woman’s Health – and a gossip magazine, which my boyfriend persuades me to buy, because he likes to page through and of course can’t buy it for himself together with his sports/ soccer magazines)

"Nothing to wear" weekend solution

“I have nothing to wear”, a common girls thought.

Even though my closet is full with clothes, I get this feeling once in a while. Especially when a party or a girls night out is coming up – or let’s be honest sometimes on a normal day too.

After a successful shopping trip I get crazy about my outfit achievements. Once the initial hype is gone, these "most perfect fitting pair of jeans" or this "cutest top ever" belong to the rest of my closet, titled “nothing to wear”.

This procedure had to stop. So I started to shop more lasting and thoughtfully.

How this works? Sleeping on it!

If I have enough time I just go for a shopping inspiration trip and if I keep thinking about those special shoes, that hot summer dress or those cool jeans, I allow myself to buy them.

Over time I have collected my very own must have pieces, that assists me in my pop up “nothing to wear-weekend situations".

One of my favorite fashion dilemma solution is simple and chic, works for a party, a dinner or just an after work cocktail with friends.

A white blazer, black leather shorts and a cute top are always a good compromise.
