Bella Italia

“A glass of red wine is the equivalent to an hour at the gym”

Beautiful, delicious and so much fun – all packed in one long weekend! Long-weekends are made to have a great time with awesome people.

Living close to Italy is amazing and suited for short trips. Italy is always a good idea either for an authentic pizza, for a swim in the Mediterranean Sea, a shopping trip or for a winetasting weekend in Friuli.

The idea for this winetasting trip came up a few month ago at a friends house while drinking, well, of course – a lot of wine.

3 days of “la bella vita” in Italy are behind us – great food, beautiful countryside, and fabulous wine. I fell in love with the vineyards in Friuli and the romantic flair in Cividale.

We arrived at the first winery called Perusini. The owner of the winery welcomed us at her and her families great property in the middle of some vineyards. After nipping, smelling and more drinking than tasting and spitting, we bought some bottles and got to the next winery only 10 minutes away.

I was already impressed by the first one but the property and the scenery around AziendaAgricola il Roncal was even prettier, wider and greater.

The owner, a young very beautiful woman, showed us around and served cheese, prosciutto, grissini and olives. The weather was at its best. 20 degrees Celsius at the end of October, nothing more we could have wished for.

Tipsy, happy and hungry we arrived in Cividale, a small old town close to the wineries. We stayed at a B&B called La Cjase dai Toscans. It was the best choice. The rooms were clean, big and furnished in a traditional Italian style. The owner was very friendly, spoke fluent English and served the best breakfast I have ever had in Italy.

 Salute!

Happy FALLing

The summer heat is over but that doesn’t mean we have to get the fall blues.
Instead we should experience the bright side of October!

My favorite things to do in October: jumping and romping in colorful leaves like a kid, wearing boots and cozy layers.

Usually it is annoying to transition the summer wardrobe into winter clothes. But the best thing about it is finding some cozy sweaters, cardigan and boots that I can’t wait to wear.

I am a boot fetishist: ankle, suede, black, leather, rubber, brown, platform, studded, Uggs,…well what should I say I just love them and collect them. My mom used to get crazy when I stored all of them at home in front of our door every winter.

No wonder, that fall is one popular fashion season! It's time to break out the cozy cardigans, layer up, and load up on booties.

October 2015 is treating us at its finest! Packed with sunny days and only a few rainshowers. Which is great, but I had literally no reason to war my Hunter rainboots. Whatever, I figured that they are very useful for walks through leaves. So I take my Hunter rainboots right into the heart of fall.

Leather pants from Mango + a white oversized buttondown shirt from J.Crew + an olive colored H&M cardigan + black Hunter rainboots + a black hat (boutique in Shanghai) = cozy fall outfit oft he day!

Get out enjoy the colorful leaves and wear your favorite booties, because it’s FALL!

Head-to-toe black with a cozy color shade

Black everything. When I look in my closet it looks very gloomy. They say black is no color? Well, then I announce it officially to my favorite ‘no-color’!

Honestly, I could wear black allover everyday. To shake up the monochrome look, I mix some camel color shade with it.

With a fringe cardigan from #Zara I lend a touch of coziness and bohemian style to my outfit.
Basic black stockings will always be chic, they are never played out – at least in my wardrobe. Team them with cool leather shorts from #mango and a tight button-down shirt from #AmericanApparel to achieve a cool boho look.

Beat the blues

Lace up, bundle up and get up!

The heat-wave ended, followed by rain, fog and cold temperatures. Days are getting shorter and nights longer.

Admitting, fall and its upcoming cold days aren’t the most motivated times of the year. Chilling and streaming my new favorite TV-show "Suits" seems more fun than running through rain.

“It started to rain, it is so cold today, I rather stay at home than getting sick again.” Excuses over excuses.

Let me introduce you to my old friend  - my inner weakness!

Last weak I got a very bad cold. After taking antibiotics and resting for a while, I needed to force myself to get my ass up again and start my workout.

When summer is over and days become shorter the mood becomes darker. Struggling between work, college, master thesis and private life sometimes stresses me out.

I start eating tons of chocolate while working, I have no time to cook a healthy dinner and my apartment looks like a mess. Some issues that get me in a bad mood. Especially my bad eating habits freak me out.

Yesterday my to-do list was long. But I forced myself to stop working. Even though I felt not that fit, the run was the best way to switch off and refuel my energy.

The first kilometer (mile) is always the hardest, it started raining and my inner weakness tried to stop me. I remember thinking “ah it’s raining, should I turn and go home and make some stretching instead.

Bull*** my outfit was waterproof, I wore a sweatband and it was not even raining it was more a light drizzle.

The workout outside was the best! I bought new fall running essentials that I love. It is always more fun when you have a cool outfit you want to show.

Honestly, sometimes I just go for a run so I can wear my new jogging pants outside.

Healthy, easy and delicious - must-try recipe

Yeah, almost finishing time. My stomach is rumbling. Time for dinner but as usual I have no idea what to make. Thinking about cooking gets me ‘hangry’.

Instead I checked my Instagram feed and came up with a perfect after-work snack.

It should be simple, healthy and tasty. Let me introduce you to an easy dinner snack: Sweet Potato Fries! It’s a must-try!

Fries and healthy? Yes - baked in the oven low carb, high in vitamins and calcium.

Add a tasty guacamole or hummus dip – and you will never ever order fries at McDonald’s.

Recipe: Rosemary Sweet Potato Fries with chili flakes

Ingredients (for 2 persons)

·      3 medium sweet potatoes
·      Pinch of salt
·      1 tablespoon olive oil
·      1 tablespoon chopped fresh rosemary leaves
·      ½ tablespoons chili flakes

1.     Preheat the oven to 200 degree Celsius. In a small bowl combine rosemary and oil.
2.     Peel the potatoes and cut them lengthwise.
3.     Toss the potatoes with the oil rosemary mixture.
4.     Spread potatoes on a large parchment-lined baking sheet in a single layer.
5.  Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, until lightly browned.
6.     Remove from oven, sprinkle with salt and serve warm.

Additionally I made a guacamole dip: 1 Avocado, lemon juice, salt and pepper.
